Halo Getting Ready For A Comeback

Members of the Texas A&M LGBT community and hundreds of other gay folks from around the area have been waiting for nightclub Halo to re-open since it “went up in flames” around mid-July. Now owner Jeff Harmon says all the club’s supporters are going to get their wish and when its finished the club will be bigger and better.

 Repairs are already underway at the club at 121 N. Main Street in Bryan. The second-floor of the club caught fire on July 18th caused by a faulty power strip. Most of the upstairs was destroyed and downstairs there was smoke and water damage.

Currently the first floor is undergoing repairs and Harmon hopes to open at least part of the bar soon. A soft opening is being planned for the downstairs portion of Halo and then the club plans to host a big grand-opening party when the second floor is finished. The bar was renovated just about 18 months before the fire.

“There’s nothing good about this fire,” Harmon told The Eagle, the daily newspaper covering Bryan and College-Station, “but something good will come out of it
